Nobody puts Baby in a corner

Last Friday I went to the New Bev Cinema for the Jason Reitman series and saw these two folks:

I was star struck.

I could’ve cared less that Academy Award nominated director, Jason Reitman (JUNO and Up in the Air), or that Academy Award winner Diablo Cody (writer of the screenplay JUNO) was there.  Although, now, I realize how ridiculous that is…

Reitman was introducing one of his favorite movies, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and announced that he had a special guest from the movie…

JENNIFER GREY

Me:  THAT’S JENNIFER GREY!

Kevin:  Who?

Me:  She played Baby in Dirty Dancing and was also Mindy in all of the Friends episodes!  I LOVE DIRTY DANCING!

The first time I watched the movie I was 6 years old.  (Who lets their 6 year-old watch Dirty Dancing?  I didn’t understand half of the movie until I saw it again a few years ago.)

I remember twirling around in our living room singing at the top of my lungs, “I’ve had the time of my life, and I owe it all to you!”

Memories.

  1. I saw the live Dirty Dancing at the Pantages in L.A. and it was SO bad, I laughed through the entire thing. The best part was the water scene where they are practicing the lift and they kept falling into the pretend stage water and pretending to be wet even though they clearly weren’t. It was SO horribly awesome!

  2. this was my favorite movie in high school! i woud love to meet jennifer grey because i actually named myself after a character named kate bass that she played in a movie called “wind”. haha amy, we have so much in common.
